I will put this simple and sweet. I was extremely bored with Zeppelin when this product came along. WHY? If you need to ask, you might not understand. However, the radio stations in my area I have nicknamed 2 different things: They are either Zeppelin Radio, or Metallica Radio. If you still do not understand, it is because they play almost nothing but the two bands named. Every hour on the hour there are at least 2 Metallica Songs played or 2 Zeppelin songs followed by 2 Beatles songs played. This constant overexposure started to dampen my interest in any of the bands mentioned. The only thing saving Metallica was that at least they produced a new concert video (or album) every couple of years. This helped end my boredom of one of them. But what happens to a band who has not released anything since the early early 80's? Well that was my impression of Zeppelin until this boxset was released. It contains either 2 or 3 concerts that completely blow "The Song Remains the Same" away. In fact the reason I will say to buy this item is for the simple fact, if you have never seen Zeppelin play live, and have only seen the film "The Song Remains the Same.", then you have never truly experienced who Zeppelin really was. This video shows Zeppelin at their best. And will give a clue to the younger generation on why Metallica is often called the Zeppelin of this generation. Because at one time Zeppelin would have put even Metallica to shame with their performances, and that is the bottom line. But do not take my word for it, But IT! It is not that expensive of a musical experience, and it is sure to bring a smile to even the most humbled Zeppelin fan. End of story.Read full review
This DVD was released in 2003 and contains some of the best footage from several shows that have been collected and bootlegged over the years. Essentially the Knebworth (8/4 and 8/11/79) and Earls Court (5/24 and 5/25/75) shows were only available within the bootleg community for some time - they have been available in total meaning the entire concert! Fortunatley, Atlantic and JP realized it was time to get the video out! This DVD captures the high points of several of these shows and has video previously un-released of the Madison Square Garden shows in 73'. However, the recent re-release of the Song Remains the same also has the rare video of the 73' shows. The Knebworth portion of this DVD is a joy -just great. Most of it is from the 8/4/79 show. To be sure this was long awaited from the Zep community and must rank as one of the most complete and enjoyable R&R DVDs ever released! Not to mention the extra promo tracks that are hidden within the end of each disk. It is important to note that the audio is of fine quality as well. If you are like me you will have your flat screen hooked into your audio amplifier or other component audio output for the real stereo effect - if you do you will totally be blown away with this DVD. I am on my second copy - order and enjoy.Read full review
I couldn't stop watching this enthralling look at the greatest rock band of all time! To watch their progression from basically a jam/blues band to one of the most creative forces in rock music was amazing, inspiring, thrilling...how many adjectives should I use here?!! You get the point! I especially loved the last section showing their concert footage at Knebworth England in 1979, which turned out to be the last show they ever played together, due to John Bonham's untimely death. If he had lived, who knows how much more great Zeppelin music would have been created...As you can tell, I truly loved this DVD...Long live Led Zeppelin, there will never be another!!!
Purchased a couple of months ago, the (Two)DVD Set was all that I expected and more. Led Zeppelin was a band in their prime with very little video exposure with the exception of "The Song Remains The Same" movie recorded 1973 Madison square Garden, NYC. Much was related to their disdain for British TV & media in general. So much so that they never released a single in Great Britain. Produced over a few years this DVD took years to complete, editing from scare & spotty video & audio with help of Jimmy Page. Considering all that the sound is remarkable & in most cases the video as well. Particularly, one of my favorites In My Time of Dying, as well as Since I've Been Loving You are exceptional. With all their great music, one would be hard pressed to find fault in any ommitions. It could only been better with a live version of When The Levee Breaks given the times. All said over 5 hours of high enjoyment.Read full review
