I use one in my high gain amp. It works better in some positions than others. But the way I use it, the retrovalve opens up the high gain channel, gave me a greater range of lower gain sounds and made the amp's eq more effective. I still had plenty of gain at higher settings. It is super quiet in the right position. For my amp, it didn't work in the first position. But I have 7 12ax7s in my amp. I am currently using the blue ones in 3 different amps, and gigged out with them. The retrovalve works great. Learn your amps tube layout and what each tube does. They last longer than a 12ax7. Blue sounds more like a 12at7.

Bought these for tube rolling. I’m using it in the rectifier position of my Carvin 100watt (set on 50 watt) combo amp. Very nice sounding

I've got these in 2 old Fender amps and love the tone and quiet operation. Shame they're no longer being made :(
