It's not exactly compact, but it's smaller than many other powered boxes. Definitely needs to be in trunk or hatchback. It sounds absolutely amazing in my Scion xB. It's a great value at any price under $230 though I paid much less. My decision to buy this unit based on the size, built in amp, overall reviews, wired remote level control, and price.

I dropped this into my '13 Xterra and it sounds great. It doesn't take up too much space in the back, pretty easy to hook up, adn to be able to control the bass remotely is a plus. This had added sooo much depth to my current setup (kickers in front and back). GREAT setup.

I setup this subwoofer to be powered by a Planet Audio 4000W Class D Monoblock MOSFET 1 Ohm Car Audio Amplifier PL4000.1D and it sounded really good when it was working. One fateful night as i blasted some really heavy bass it just ripped the cone right in the middle after 45 minutes of continuous loud bass. in the end i had it for 4months.

Installed in my 2002 Toyota Camry, Fits nice and snug in the passengerside corner of trunk, and the bass is pretty awesome for how compact the system is, wiring was a breeze, and easy to adjust controls, also pretty lightweight, Good Job JBL!

Incredible sound and price. You can't beat this deal. The bass will over take the car, so the remote bass control is perfect. Love it in my cars trunk.
