First, remember to remove the plastic covering the head on the cassette. Nothing in the instructions about that. Had to return the first unit due to static during playback. Second one works really good except for the microphone, which is basically useless. First one was no better. Overall all I am pleased with the sound quality and it's very cool to play Bluetooth through my vintange car stereo tape deck.

I had an auxiliary input to cassette but it broke so I bought this thinking it would be cool to connect through Bluetooth and play music and sound the same. When I charged it up and connected it to my phone to play music I was thoroughly disappointed. For $20 this thing should sound much better. Instead there is almost NO bass, and the music is extremely quiet. I was thoroughly disappointed in this item when I charged it up and put it into my car to play music. About a 4/10, wouldn't recommend this product to a friend, it gets the job done but doesn't have good audio quality at all even at full charge. It is extremely loud too, I can hear the gears turning inside of the cassette unlike my old one while driving and it is very annoying to say the least. It is also very cheap plastic. Overall I'd say this thing probably came from China and didn't cost more than $5 to make.Read full review

I was very eager to try this adapter, as I have been using a Belkin wired cassette audio adapter for years, and wanted to take advantage of Bluetooth to play audio from my iPhone and iPods in the car. I unpacked it, read the instructions, and plugged it in to charge. I was thinking the maker should be able to make it self-powered. Not so. It claims to activate only when you push play... I figured that would save battery life, and keep me from having to operate the tiny, barely-accessible power switch on the edge of the adapter. It seems not so. I had to wait until just before use to turn on the power. This really cannot be done while driving. The switch is tiny, and cannot reasonably be operated without a pencil, paper clip, or sharp fingernail -- it is below the surface of the case with no chamfered edges to help grab the teeny slide switch. With power on, I inserted the adapter and paired it with my phone. This went fine. I was able to play my audio thru the device just fine. I got to work and left it in the player. At lunch, I found it already dead, in need of a charge. Turns out, you must switch off the power each time you stop using it. I received calls on the device, and was annoyed that I had to manually choose the microphone in my iPhone after every pairing. This doesn't happen with my other devices. After fiddling with it for nearly two weeks, I put it in the glovebox and went back to my old wired cassette adapter. I think the fix would be to make it self-powered (the tape drive could run a little generator) and shut off when the unit is not playing. That way, all one would have to do is start the car, ensure it's paired, and go. I have a great factory audio system in this car, and replacing it with anything new on the market is not a desirable option for me.Read full review

So recently my line-in cassette fell through and I needed a replacement. I decided on going with the bluetooth cassette. Big mistake. Not only is the sound super quiet, the cassette had issues ejecting out of my stereo (which I had to forcibly take out). The ION help forums were no help at all either, the app they provided was just atrociously bad. My biggest issue out of all is the price, definitely not worth $20. My line-in cassette was cheaply made but man it did the job, it was only $5. Don’t waste your time or money, just buy a line-in.
