I've seen this movie many times over the years. As far as I'm concerned, this version of "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" beats all the others that have come before or after. With a cast including Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nimoy, Jeff Goldblum, Brooke Adams, and Veronica Cartwright, this movie uses its highly-talented cast and story to its utmost advantage. And a brief appearance from Kevin McCarthy (who starred in the 1950s original) was a nice touch and an effective "bridge" between that era and the 1970s. This one takes much of its mood and feel from the H. P. Lovecraft tale "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", layering on the creepiness in a way that was missing from the original movie. This movie is still one of the premier scifi/horror movies of all time, and it doesn't rely on gore, cheap jumpscares, or gratuitous violence to get its point across. This adaptation of Invasion Of the Body Snatchers is among the best "alien invasion" movies in the history of cinema.Read full review

I saw this film years ago. I think it has become better with age. ( Mine included.) There are parallels that are too obvious to our present situation and that heightened the anxiety factor of watching this well acted movie.

one of the best horror movies ever. The special effects alone are mind blowing. Especially for back in 1978 when the movie was made. Never saw the original but this version with Donald Sutherland and Brooke Adams gets my vote for a great scary movie!!

Liked this film from my youth. However I was expecting to get the 1998 case with the big purple screaming face and the four of them running. The title letters were yellow. From 1998. It read "Experience all the thrills, chills and suspense of Invasion of the Body Snatchers" on DVD for the first time. I got the 1998 version but in the 2007, 2012 case. where Brooke Adams and Donald Sutherland their green double bodies

This is one of those great Sci-Fi/Horror flicks from the 1970's that oft gets overlooked. The film begins as we see an across the universe existence on another world that is barren and populated by spore like creatures. They ascend to outer space and make their way to Earth. This is where the fun begins. Soon, people of lovely San Francisco are awaiting their fates with the lovely gift of a pod-like plant. Elizabeth's boyfriend is the first in her life to awaken to a brave new world. She believes he has changed in some way and cannot seem to put her finger on the reason why. What happens next is for you the viewer to find out. No spoilers here. The DVD itself comes in two formats, wide-screen and pan and scan. The pictures is decent. There are some grain problems on the edges of the film itself, but overall not that bad. I've seen much better and far worse. The DVD also contains the original theatrical trailer and feature length commentary about the director.Read full review
