You don't have to be vegan or even vegetarian to find something in this book to try with good results. It's a fun read and filled with all kinds of basic info. Nothing too complicated. And who knew there were a hundred and one household uses for vinegar! You will also find snacks for dogs, snacks for kids, and do it yourself personal grooming products. This book makes being vegan an attractive alternative. The authors tell of their journey from spending all their money on beer and concerts to discovering the healing power of an animal free diet when one of them is stricken with a health challenge. As you may tell from the photo, the result is in the tasting. I have bought quite a few of these books over the years, as I seem to hand mine over to anyone who shows enthusiasm, replacing it with another. Now I purchase them 3 at a time so I always have extra on hand to give away and share the fun.Read full review
How It All Vegan, by Tanya Barnard and Sarah Kramer is an excellent vegan resource as well as a fun, practical cookbook packed with a variety of doable recipes. Not only does the book include information on vegan alternatives to cheese, eggs and sugar, there are forty-five uses for vinegar and recipes for making your own ketchup, mayonnaise, salad dressings, beauty products and bug repellant. The book promotes sustainable living by giving you recipes versus recommendations for high priced products. You will learn to make veggie burgers, desserts (including ice cream), soups, salads and so much more with ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen pantry. This is the type of cookbook you can grab when you have no idea what you want to eat, except that you want something tasty, practical and healthy! I got exactly what I wanted with this book!Read full review
I highly recommend this book for the variety of information included. Besides the regular vegan recipes it includes very helpful ones like do-it-yourself vegan milk or butter. Also, it includes a section with household and beauty products you can make yourself at home from products you usually have or aren't hard to find. I also liked very much an appendix with the explanation for a lot of ingredients you find in food and cosmetics and why they are harmful and how you can substitute them. Even though a new edition is out I checked it out and it's not much different from this one except for a few new recipes and a few pictures of the meals so for me it was a matter of price. I'm happy with my purchase.
Great cookbook. We used to own this but loat track of it. Glad to have it again! Not vegans vut great plant-based options. Simple recipes. Shipped quickly!
