If you're a physician or personal injury attorney headed to court, you had better understand the content in the 6th edition of the AMA Guidelines to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, because it has changed quite a bit from the 5th edition. We went ahead and highlighted the difference between the 5th and 6th editions with our copy of this book for easy reference when refuting PI cases in court. The book its self is complex by design and could be a bit easier to create impairment ratings, but hey, that's the way the AMA works I guess.

Can't beat this book if your state requires it. Be aware the original first editions like this one lack a few of the charts found in later editions, but it's adequate.

It's laughable to think that this edition was supposed to "simplfy" the process of impairment rating. Of course it has not been simplified, but now becomes much more subjective and outcome assessment based. Don't look for high ratings here! The concensus is that hours of work on complex formulas may lead to little or no difference in your rating. It's a pity they're shifting away from the 5th edition of the guides. Much easier to work with
Just as described, thank you!

I have been doing Disability Evaluations for the Social Security Administration for many years, and this is the current gold standard reference on the subject. Dense, well-researched, accessibly-written, a gem.
