I think this is my favorite season of Gilligan's Island. Anything can happen on this classic show which was one of the things that made it so great and I love all of the characters. Plus it brings back a lot of good memories of coming home from school with my sister in the late 70's and early 80's to watch it on the reruns on TV.

The discs are great! :D The case was a bit more damaged than I expected for a Very Good. But the discs worked great!

The packaging of this very popular TV series is very good, however a small booklet containing show extras would have been a great finishing touch. The extras on the DVD do kind of make up for that short coming. This is one of the rare shows that can be watched over and over again without tiring of the stories. Somewhat like The Andy Griffith Show and others. It was a time in TV history that reflected innocence, morality, simple stories and good clean comedy. I remember as a child a few everyday life lessons were learned and reinforced by these shows. No, they didn't take the place of parents, schools or churches. But they did help to mold and shape young minds even if that wasn't the main intent.I wish more shows today held true to that spirit. I mainly bought the set for my grandchildren. We can watch together and hopefully some simpler times can rub off. It's to bad that most of the actors and actresses got typecast because of this show. Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells could have handled more than bit parts after the series ended. Season Two is in color so that helps to show new details about our beloved characters. Like Ginger's flaming red hair and Gilligan's famous attire. Maybe, next time the marketers could included a Gilligan hat in a special footlocker package along with all three seasons plus a special extra disc.Read full review
A must have for all Gilligan Island Fan's..... Forget about a three-hour tour--Gilligan's Island fans can sit right back and enjoy all 32 episodes of the much-loved television comedy and even a few extras with this three-disc set. GI aficionados will probably argue which episode deserves to be called the best in the series' three-year history until the end of time, but few will disagree that its sophomore season (1965-66) contains some of its funniest and best-remembered episodes. For starters, season 2 marks the show's debut in color, as well as the first time the Professor (Russell Johnson) and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) were mentioned in the opening theme song (all of this occurs in the season opener, "Gilligan's Mother-in-Law"). But it also includes such classic episodes as "Hi Fi Gilligan" (Gilligan picks up radio signals in his mouth), "Don't Bug the Mosquitos" (faux Brit rockers land on the island), "Mine Hero" (a WWII mine washes up on the beach), "Meet The Meteor" (space debris makes the castaways age prematurely), and "The Friendly Physician" (a mad scientist's experiments cause the castaways to swap bodies), all of which have lost none of their laughs or pure entertainment value. The supplemental features, though slight, include an introduction by Johnson and series creator Sherwood Schwartz, as well as commentary by Schwartz on his favorite episode, "The Little Dictator."Read full review
What can there be to speak against Gilligan's Island, the most immortal of comedy television classics. Gilligan, Skipper, the Howells, Ginger, the Professor, Mary Ann. They are all back in this wonderful second season of their "three hour tour". The second season in itself represents changes for the series, especially in the opening credits. And the rest becomes the Professor and Mary Ann! Also, the scenery changes the island from a dreary black and white to beautiful stunning colour. Gilligan's shirt is red, the Skipper's is blue, colour has changed the others too. Also among the changes the music is now solely composed by Gerald Fried (no joke on the name), the storylines are wackier than ever, not to mention there are times that Gilligan appears to outwit some of the others when they're trying to force him to do something he doesn't want to. Even Ginger's charms won't work anymore. No lover of this first rate comedy masterpiece should be without this season. Come on, watch it again and laugh at all the hilarious antics these shipwrecked lunatics get up to. They're all waiting for you... there on Giligan's Isle.Read full review
