If you are a fan of Burns & Allen, this will give you a taste of why they were such a popular team with theater, radio and motion picture audiences for over 30 years. For those of us born in the last half of the 20th century, it's a revelation to see George Burns, in a relatively youthful state. Even though Burns later proved to be a fine actor and comedian on his own, it's easy to see that he was at his best as a straight man for his wife, Gracie Allen. Their act is a joy to watch. The only problem with the movies included in this collection is that Burn's & Allen are often relegated to supporting roles in their own starring vehicles. In SIX OF A KIND, Burns & Allen are part of a strong ensemble that includes W.C. Fields and the wonderful Charlie Ruggles. The other two films do not feature supporting casts that are nearly as strong, making the long stretches between George and Gracie's routines tough sledding. The fact that 3 movies are included in this set, far outweighs any negative aspects of the material. This is also a pressed DVD as opposed to a "made on demand" DVD-R, now the common method of release for Universal's vintage catalog properties. Given the studio's increasing reluctance to release any classic titles, especially on Blu-Ray, you would be wise to grab this now out of print DVD while you can.Read full review
Purchased as a gift for someone who is legally blind. They can see in a limited capacity, so it is more about the sound and story line. Loves all the "old" sitcoms and really likes these types of movies and shows. "They just don't make them like this anymore."

I bought this for the W.C. Fields' "honest John" pool scene. That alone is worth the price. The rest is very good entertainment filmed in an era when humor didn't rely on vulgarity.

This collection provides a wonderful glimpse into the early film work of a witty and loveable couple. The interactions with other actors and commedians of the mid 1930s are well thought through and funny. Gracie as always steals the show (unintentionally of course).
