If you are interested in Marine aviation in WWII,this is the book for you. It is very well researched and written in an entertaining style. Among other things, Barrett Tillman correctly identifies Joe Foss as the leading Marine Corps ace of WWII and all time with 26 victories, not "Pappy" Boyington, whose claimed 28 victories were based on his fraudulent claims of 6 victories with the American Volunteer Group ("Flying Tigers") instead of the 3.5 he actually got, and his equally fraudulent, post-war claim of 2 unwitnessed victories the day he was shot down in 1944.
