There isn't a bad song on this disk! Most of these songs are 4+ decades old, some are old Doo-wop, some are late and mid 50's pop but all are classics that were lovingly re-done by Huey and his band in a modern way that really highlight the first decade or so of the roots of rock n roll. My favorite track on this cd is the story of "Stagger Lee", but other highlights include the catchy sing-along "It's Alright" and the outstanding Chuck Calhoun tune "Your Cash Ain't Nuthin' But Trash". If your looking for something definately different to add to your collection, and you happen to like classic tunes then you can't go wrong by owning this cd. It rocks!
If you are a late 50's early 60's Doo-wop fan, you will LOVE this album. Very few bands have the "A cappella" or harmonization skills that Huey Lewis and the News do. They sing these standards with "Heart & Soul" from long ago. If you are a true Huey Lewis fan, this is a must have for the collection, just like their "A cappella" rendition of the Star Spangled Banner if you can find it!
For fans of the real rhythm and blues, (not today's lame attempt at that genre) this CD is a must. Lewis's vocals fit the groove provided by his band. Great covers and renditions of some songs I was unfamiliar with. I'm wearing it out.
If you like good feeling music this is for you!
