I'm 60 years old. I've been using electric shavers for a while now. I think this is the second Norelco shaver I've used, and I don't like it at all. Even with brand new batteries in it, it shaves like the batteries are nearly dead. It takes forever to shave, and it misses so much that I have to shave several times to get the job halfway done, and I never get a smooth shave. When shaving electric, I definitely prefer Remington. The electric unit I use now is a Remington Titanium MSC-140 - very reasonably priced. I like the replaceable battery type because with a rechargeable one the batteries typically just don't hold up, and it's almost cheaper to replace the shaver than to replace the batteries - and if the batteries die with a rechargeable, you're typically sunk because you can't shave while it's charging. However, I prefer a manual Gillette Atra Plus over anything else I've ever shaved with. I only use electric if I haven't just taken a shower to soften my face before shaving. There is a trick to shaving with a manual shaver/razor, for those of us with sensitive skin. First, I shower to soften the beard and skin. Then, I don't dry my face, and I apply shaving lotion before I do anything beyond drying off the rest of my body (so my face doesn't dry). Then, the biggest part of the trick, which took me a long time to realize. Don't just apply the shaving cream/lotion quickly. Gently rub it in until it gets a real heavy lather - you don't need a lot of it, it will build up as you rub it. This gives a MUCH smoother shave, and I rarely get nicks or razor burns anymore. I use Sensitive Skin gel, and it works great, although I've also used other lotions, and they generally work well too, using this technique.Read full review

I have tried several AA battery shavers and have been disappointed. This rotary shaver seems a little faster and does a better job than the ones I have tried previously. I like the replaceable battery feature -- keeps it compact. It is NOT as good as the larger shavers, but fills my need.

Despite having only 2 heads this is a very good shaver especially for trimming ears. It will take a bit more time to shave the face area. But lightweight, compact and giving a very smooth shave. Nice gift for someone too ! -Rick K.

I bought the Braun M-60 first, thinking that I could use it on my vacation travels. It doesn't suit me that well and the shave is okay. I then purchased the Norelco to see if I can get a better and faster shave. It indeed did and I'm very satisfied with it. Although, electric shaver cannot beat the actual razor shaver, but it's convenient when you are not at a sink or restroom.
