This purchase was for my '77 S&W M41. It has a metal follower magazine and I suppose everyone but me knew a new magazine wouldn't work with an older pistol. A heads up from S&W is in order. It took hours to stone a correct profile and relieve the latch slot on the magazine. It now works perfectly though it could use a bluing. I imagine this magazine would work well with newer pistols but I won't be buying another.

I always want extra mags for all my guns. I've learned that some of the most popular after market offerings, however, are not of equal quality to the factory mags. Sometimes yes, but not always. While these mags are factory ones, though, I must say they're not as smooth as I'd like and expected. By smooth I mean that the follow button is not "like butter", and the opening to accept your .22 round is a tad small/tight. I may try to tweak them, but I know I need to be extra careful or I'm in trouble. ALL mags are overpriced big time, by the way- that's why I don't give five stars. Its kind of like when you go to the movies and they gouge you for $8.00 for popcorn and don't have a bunch of sales- look- drop the price within reason, say to $2.00... you'll make money still, but just about EVERYBODY will order popcorn!! Hello- basic economics! If gun mags were under maybe $17 bucks, you'd find guys ordering 6 of them and not just the two high priced ones that they'll gripe about until they sell the gun.Read full review

Even though these magazines have only a capacity of 10 rounds instead of 12 as my factory magazines hold on my S&W model 422, they function just fine. I believe they can be modified to accommodate 12 rounds. Just need to separate the lower plate off the mag and remove excess material from the feeder and drill a hole in the bottom plate to accommodate the lock pin at the end of the spring. Just like my original factory magazines. Price was great!
