Welcome to the world of Phil, Si, Willie, Jase, and Jep Robertson and their wives and kids-a tightly knit group living the good life in West Monroe, LA, brought into the limelight by their stunning success producing duck calls and other hunting goods. These guys are unashamedly outdoorsmen who love hunting and fishing-and getting into all kinds of misadventures. Although the family business keeps the dollars coming in, the Robertsons are more inclined to go huntin' or fishin' than being tied down at the warehouse making duck calls, which leads to some headaches for Duck Commander CEO Willie. Willie's uncle Si and brothers Jase and Jep, along with co-workers Godwin and Martin, are always thinking of ways to get out of work and into, well, mischief most of the time. The results are usually hilariously funny! If you enjoy down-home humor-along with a few life lessons along the way-then check out "Duck Dynasty". Go, Robertsons!Read full review
I actually bought this to give to someone else, but my curiosity got the better of me. So I watched it. Now,I have to say I found it extremely entertaining. I have never been around hunters and never wanted to get involved in sport hunting, but this family lives off the land and eats what they bag and that made all the difference for me on that level. Aside from that I found the family intriging and very likeable. I am most drawn to Willie, but I can appreciate what the elder Robertson is trying to share with his family in terms of values. I was also very impressed with the manners of the young people and the respect they paid to their elders. I cannot say that there was anyone in this family that did not make a smile come to my lips, or a chuckle ruffle my sensibilities. and after a few episodes I suddenly found myself wanting to go over, sit down, and have a nice heaping plate of squirrel with them, which I have never had, or pile of frog legs which I have had and adore. They seem like decent folks. On the whole I enjoyed watching every episode, even the silly tomfoolery the relative employees engage in. I enjoyed the dvd so much I watched the whole set in two days. Very funny. the philosophies share were backwoodsy illuminating, and it was interesting to watch the families take on livelihood and watching the ways in which their lives were distinctly different from my own, and yet had a great appeal on many levels. Yes, the other side of the fence does have its appeal, but watch out for those gators and snakes. What I loved most- family is the most important thing to these people...and that is what should be most important to anyone. Bottom line I can appreciate all kinds of people from all walks of life and if you can too then this is a dvd you will enjoy.Read full review
Was looking for some good, honest down home entertainment. This isn't the cussing and vulgarity you see on all the other shows. These people are for real. Bought it. Loved it.
