I HAD an out of control Pomeranian! He is so cute and he is my baby. I let him run all over me to be perfectly honest. I made excuses for his behavior like: "That is just how Pomeranians are!" "Oh, that is just his personality!" "It is because he was a Rescue dog!" Well...Shame on me! I have learned a lot from Cesar's books. I now own ALL of them! I was to the point where I was trying to decide if I could keep my Pom, after five years of drama. I decided to get Cesar's books and give it a try. I am fully committed to being the strong calm assertive person that my Pom, Taz, needs now and things are progressing wonderfully! I made so many mistakes! Feeling sorry for him, baby talk, bribery, screaming at him, letting him do whatever he wanted as long as I had some Peace for a few minutes, letting him lead on walks. Taz had Separation Anxiety through the roof, Dominance issues, jumping issues, barking, whining, begging, peeing on my bed when he was mad because I left him, etc, etc. I was literally keeping him because I was scared if I tried to find him a new home someone would have him put down! I Love him but he was making me Crazy and I was crying every day! The Vet said he is healthy and he just needed more attention! Sure! Let me quit my job and see if being homeless Helps! When I watched Cesar on the television I always thought "Great! You can do it but I can not. You must have some magic skill!" I have had dogs in the past and have not had issues training them and they were well behaved. This time around though my youngest child is moving out and I made Taz my replacement baby. HUGE mistake! I am working very hard to correct the error of my ways and Taz is responding extremely well. He is learning that I am the Boss, not him. He looks to me now to see what I want him to do. He is so much calmer. He does not cry when I leave any longer. Things are still a work in progress but Taz and I are both much happier now!Read full review
I'm a huge fan of Cesar Millan and his show The Dog Whisperer. He taught me things that, as a lifetime dog owner, I never knew about having dogs. I thought I was giving each of my dogs a good life and after watching his show and reading this book I realized that I was fulfilling my own needs and not necessarily my dogs'. I bought this book for a friend who just purchased her first dog. Every dog owner should be required to read this book. This man has proven time and time again that he understands how dogs tick and for anyone who's wondered, "why does my dog do that?," Cesar has the answer and the solution to any problem that you can encounter about dogs. I'm sure he's not the first person to have these ideas but he nationally known for his ability to turn even the most vicious or traumatized dog into a trustworthy family pet. His work speaks for itself and there are no flaws to his methods. He never uses anger or violence to accomplish his tasks and for anyone who's dealt with an aggressive or stubborn dog, you know what an amazing feat this is to accomplish. Everyone who has to deal with dogs should read this book!Read full review
Cesars Way is an awesome book for gaining a deeper understanding about your dog, his/her behavior and even your own. It helped me tremendously with my pitt bull and myself. It gives wonderfully explained insight on a dogs perception and capabilities of the world to help humans better understand how to coexist and live happily and balanced being pack leaders of their dogs. This is a wonderfully written book, however...it made me want to read all of his other books as well! The advice and techniques, when used properly, work perfectly! Cesar Milan is now my new inspiration! I even feel more at peace and happier from following his books and living a more balanced lifestyle. Even my family has followed my change for the better!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Cesar's Way and I learned so many fun and easier ways to work with our 4 month old Jack Russell pup. This book was so easy to read and suggestions easy to work with. We have a long way to go with our lively "Cyclone", but we refer to Cesar Millan's book regularly to keep her from being pack leader. More chapters on Jack Russells would be great. We need all the help we can get. Cesar is a blessing to all of us as loving and frustrated dog owners. Kudos to both Cesar and Melissa for this wonderful guide. Thanks again, Janet Doss ;-)
I loved this book and it made a lot of sense! I think everyone who is a dog owner or contemplating the idea of being one ahould read this! I ended up buying a copy for my mother-in-law & a friend!
