I started listening to Glen Campbell during my early teen years (around 1968) and have been a fan ever since. In those early days, it seemed that Glen was coming out with a new hit every week-"Gentle On My Mind", "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman", "Galveston"-his prodigious talent brought him into the musical limelight as few other singers were able to do. In this collection of his "Capitol years" hits, you are treated to most of Glen's biggest hits-his collaborations with songwriter Jim Webb and arranger Al deLory, his coverings of hits by Gordon Lightfoot, Roy Orbison, and many more, and some of his later chart-toppers; this CD has them all (or very nearly all). Listening to this collection brought back fond memories for me...watching the "Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" on TV, playing Glen Campbell on 33-1/3 RPM records, listening to Glen on an 8-track tape player in my old '64 Chevy, and learning guitar licks as well-Glen is a fantastic guitar player, too. All in all, old fans should be delighted to have this fine collection of songs, and a good many new fans might just crop up, as well. Give a listen-and enjoy! 5*****Read full review
This set of Glen Campbell Capitol years (were there other years?) is phenomenal. The first treat is the inclusion of the Brian Wilson produced Guess I'm dumb...so great. All of the big hits are here. The only song that I see missing is "I wanna live" otherwise very complete. So glad they included Glen's beautiful version of the Gordon Lightfoot "The last time I saw her". Get it. Jack Fitzpatrick
