Takes very good pictures, especially for a camera that I paid $50 for! Super easy to use, with no need to read a manual, especially if you've ever owned a Canon camera before. Very happy that they use only two AA batteries, which are easy to find anywhere and easily replaced, thereby requiring no time to charge a built in Lithium Ion battery. Of course using rechargeable AAs will result in a longer battery life, but it's nice to have the option. Camera is very attractive red color, and my only complaint is the lack of viewfinder, which is helpful when photographing in bright sunlight where the screen would be hard to see. Have only owned it a couple of days, so still haven't even explored all of the features, which includes a very useful and flexible Manual mode for more precise settings.Read full review
The Canon Powershot A470 is a good little camera that's easy to operate. It's got a great zoom lens, and the camera is so easy to use that I really haven't had to go to the Owners Manual. I'm on my second Powershot camera. My first one was stolen from my car, and I replaced it with the Canon camera I have now. It's a tough little camera that performs well, and I recommend it. If there's a drawback, it would be that this camera is really heavy for its size, but I guess heavy conststruction is needed to pack in all the goodies on this camera.
I happen to own 4 digital cameras at this price point and with similar specs. They are Basic point and shoots from the makers: Sony, Nikon, HP, and the Canon. My canon has the highest mgpix, but only by 2 over the rest. I have not enlarged photos off the canon, but would expect a slightly sharper print. Pictures on my monitor from it are very nice quality. There is little shortage with menu for this price range camera. Although, Me and Canon has never been on the same page as to the logic in placement and usage of words for their tools. I don't know if that is a statement you will hear from the majority of their new customers or just me. My other 3 cameras navigate me through the menu with much better understanding. I paid around $35.00 for it and feel that the used camera, which has no problems and shoots very nice pics.Read full review
This Canon is an excellent camera for the money. It is easy to use and an easy size/design to handle. It uses two AA batteries for power, so carry an extra couple of them with you. In my opinion, Canon makes the best lenses, which is the heart of any camera. You get a big bang for the buck with this handy, dandy unit.
The small size and capability make this camera a winner in everything I use a camera for. The higher pixel count produces great pictures, even built up to larger sizes. Capability to make short movies is nice, so long as a large enough SD memory is used. I chose a 2gb SD for most situations. I am very pleased with the 3 Canon A470 cameras I have purchased and used or given away. My friends have enjoyed using them, too. Rechargeable batteries last longer than previous cameras I used. The software that comes with the new camera makes downloading pictures a snap and very easy.
