This is a difficult review to write, simply because I am unable to use, or rather enjoy this particular product. I purchased Bob Dylan The Other Side of the Mirror because I am a huge Dylan fan. Seeing Dylan at his best, and for what he stands for are his live performances. Both old and new. Having the opportunity to purchase rare concert footage of Dylan intrigued me and it was a must have for my Dyaln collection. What I liked most about The Other Side of the Mirror was, in fact, the rare concert footage of Dylan performing songs that most people have never heard before. Upon recieving this particular DVD I almost immediately popped it in to my player to watch it. From the first performance to the last, the DVD was in poor operation. It would freeze up, as if I hit the pause button. Then it would play for only a few seconds and then freeze up again, or would simply skip the remainder of the performance and go on to the next performance and freeze up during that one as well. I did take into consideration that maybe it was my player and not the disc, so I changed discs and those worked fine. So I know it wasn't my DVD player, it was indeed the discs. I do not plan on returning the discs for a refund. I will just take the loss and never-ever buy from that vendor again, ever!Read full review
An Echo from the Past, When Dylan Changed US Folk Music, Then Went on to Change Rock. And most of it is great to see - until Dylan is on stage with most of the Butterfield BLues Ban, and they murder MAGGIE'S FARM. It is unlistenably bad. He then does an encore with an acoustic guitar that's fabulous. The interview with documentary filmmaker, Murray Lerner, is very nice to see.

Been waiting a long time for this to surface. Fine overall quality. Wonderful to see Bob's development from one appearance year to the next. Only disappointment is the number of 1965 electric songs featured. My understanding is there were more electric songs performed than those that appear in the film. Otherwise a fantastic record of Bob's early appearances and pivitol "electric" premier in 1965. A must for all fans!
From someone who also spent time on Dave von Ronk's floor, it is very, very pleasant to see Bob make it. This DVD is an actual documentary of genuine musicians, singers, and songwriters who were involved in the music movements of their day. I would recommend viewing, or better still owning this moment in time. Dylan is as always, superlative. It's nice to see Joan Baez's response to waht he was about.
Bob Dylan hits a homerun with this DVD & I highly recommend this one
