You know I read a review of a person saying don't buy it worst game ever on the market. I am sure most of you will just shake your head & thinking what a ignorant person. I think the graphics are good not as good as COD 4. I assume some people who post negative expect all games to be perfect graphics that must be flawless. I think it has to deal with what PC you have if you have a cheap video card expect choppy graphics & if you have some speed of a celeron expect slow performance & then 1GB of memory indeed expect very slow time. I do not know what video cards you have but this is just an ADVICE now some people are NVIDIA freaks which that's fine they have very awesome cards. I changed to SAPPHIRE HD 4870 1GB TOXIC Edition Core Clock 780 Memory Clock 1000mhz/ 4GPBS 1024/256Bit GDDR5 even has built in Game physics processing capability. Now if I can run around on COD 4 with everything high to the max on a 22 Inch Wide Screen under heavy fire yeah this card is Awesome! I think it is one of the best cards out today did not say it is the best. You just need to pick your poision.Read full review
I bought the game to get "improvements" over the older Operation Flashpoint game. I found there were decent improvements, but the real benefits were: 1. The many mods online that were written for the ArmA series. The actual game itself had newer and faster graphics. 2. This allowed me to rig a 4 multi-screen, complete wrap-around (90 degree front, left, right and rear) viewing area using downloaded programs in connection with video connection splitters. The connection outfitting cost more money than the game, but was worth every penny. Note: that if the game had not been able to use the adaptors I wouldn't have been able to make my fixes. Overall a decent game that allows the player to make mods that improve game play and a website that supports the players.
Although I already owned ArmA 2 and Arma 2:Operation Arrowhead beforehand, buying this game is still worth it. There's a lot more mod available compared to the second one and the most of all, since this is a 2007 game, you don't need a high end computer to run this game. There are few things that I don't like about this game, the clunky movements, some remaining bugs and most of all, the notorious OFP AI(read: Aimbot), good thing there are mods and scripts out there to fix these. And I almost forgot to say that this is a sandbox tactical simulator, the mission editor alone gives the game hours of replayability, almost every vehicle is operable, and the very big map lets you execute your mission your own way, which is no longer common on today's "tactical" fps. Unless you have a computer good enough to run ArmA 2, I suggest getting this game first.Read full review
Arma is a great game if you liked Operation: Flashpoint. The freedom of movement is great, the mission editor is fantastic, and the diversity of units offered is the best. Gameplay is a little slow, the AI is pretty poor, and if you design your own missions you have to spend a lot of time scripting the AI. There are hundreds of addons and modifications available online for this game and that is one of the best things about it. If you have the patience to create your own missions you can take part in some extraordinary battles. The graphics are average, a little dated. Sound is below average.
This game is for those who like to experiment with environment, conditions, map settings, etc. Great for those who want to recreate scenes they've seen on TV or movies and for those who want to appreciate other people's take on a scene. --- THERE ARE FANTASTIC AND HELPFUL MOD AND EDITING COMMUNITIES FOR THIS GAME. CHECKING OUT THESE COMMUNITIES IS A NECESSITY TO FULLY APPRECIATE THIS GAME. This game is not for the Rambo in us all, and therefore is not for mainstream gamers. This is a SLOW PACED game that requires you to think ahead of your movements and actions, lest you feel the consequences (like a Chess game).
