This movie was my childhood dream, so I was happy to take a trip down the memory lane. When I saw this movie in a cinema theater in 1981 I was awe-struck. Back then Abba was at the forefront of the pop music happenings, they were the darlings of the international pop scene and, unlike many of other musicians at the time, were totally 100% organic :] Abba was never known to be involved with drugs, sex, scandals, etc, etc, though media at the time tried to portray them as such. There is a good reason why one of the interviewees in the movie says "I like them because they are nice and clean". Abba, as silly and naive their music may sound in 2011, gave all of us hope that music can be successfully played without involving negative and scandalous happenings. While they were not without their internal struggle (details of which can be found on the Net), they managed to endure and produced some of the best musical pieces that, IMHO, put them in the same league with classical composers. The movie itself is not overly advanced - it is rather a compilation of their Australia tour in 1977. Every song gets about a measure or two and the visuals are compiled from different concerts. The naive reporter who tries to get interview with Abba and constantly keeps missing events seems to be the main thread, though, it is really the Abba concerts that this movie is all about. According to the film director, the idea for the film was conceived, while Abba was on the plain flying to Australia for the tour. This probably explains why the movie has few short dialogs, though I may also add that Nordic countries (Abba is from Sweden, in case you thought they are from the US) foster rather reserved attitude and few spoken words. It is impossible to hear a swede talking at length and explaining everything in great details, unless, of course, he is talking on a cell phone (in 2011, not 1977). Of course I rate this movie as Excellent. Aside from re-living the childhood memories, this movie brings positive emotions, a hope that Abba was not the only musical group that gave us positive and talented example and more are to follow. Our pop music scene has been marred by many examples unlike Abba and we have yet to see another one like them. So far, IMHO, they stay unmatched in scope and magnitude. Even better, I hope there will be another Abba-like group that would do even better.Read full review

I enjoy any videos and music by ABBA. This "movie" was worth the money to be able to see more videos of ABBA in various concerts and tours. It was disappointing from the standpoint of not giving more time to each member of ABBA and really hearing them talk or learn more about them. A "movie" it wasn't. It was kind of choppy as far as really getting a close look of the ABBA members. But the music and concert clips were great.
This was an awesome deal. I've been looking everywhere for this movie. Love it. Thank you
