My son was recently looking for a guide to refer to while preparing a specific project in one of his college courses. This book had been recommended by one of his professors and the copies he had located were in the $25.00 range. I looked at the book and had to agree that this was THE manual to have if someone needed to submit work in the "Chicago Style" also known as the "Turabian Style". Easy to understand and follow while doing preliminary drafts through the final manuscript. After we agreed this was definitely the guide my son had been looking for, I was very pleased to find it at an excellent price. In fact I would have had no second thoughts about paying full price for this item.
I have recently started graduate studies and this book is very useful for papers. You would not need to be in graduate studies to use it. The book is basically an abbreviated guide of the Chicago writing format. Men of few words are the best men. William Shakespeare
I attempted to use this book for a paper that included lots of music references. The book deals inadequately with music. It is confusing to find one's way around because music is listed under five or six areas, some of which actually do not apply. The 1990s edition I bought does not deal with the internet in a meaningful way, and the requirements for citing a musical composition are beyond what the music industry itself requires. I'm suggesting to the college that they find a better manual.
Excellent organized information. Full of important material and easy to use. Advanced topic for graduate level.
I was blindsided by needing to learn this manual for writes. I was forced to use MLA and APA standards for most of my life and never new of the Turabian Style. This book is a must have for those seeking graduate degrees.
