Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the animantion...great at it is...is not as good as it became with later hits like "Peter Pan" and "Lady and the Tramp." Otherwise, great. Funny, touching, musical, well-paced entertainment.

We bought this cinderalla, little mermaid combo. Cinderalla was fine. Good quality, seemed genuine. We didn't watch the little mermaid until a couple of months after. This is something fishy with this one. Sound is bad, voices don't sync, colors look washed out, and framerate of recording seems low somehow. I'm assuming we got a pirate copy mixed in. Who knows; perhaps they both are, but one is just a poor job of it. Anyway, be advised you may not be getting a good recording of this movie.

The newest release in Disney's "Platinum Edition" series is the 1951 film "Cinderella". Just about everyone knows the story (nice girl stuck with evil stepmother and stepsisters, Royal ball, fairy godmother, and so on) so I won't waste your time rehashing it but I will say that the Disney writers have put a few unexpected and welcome twists on this familliar tale. Visually it has great animation, beautiful backgrounds and some great special effects animation (remember this was produced in the time before computers and all of the shadows, magic sparkles and bubbles [yes, bubbles] were hand-drawn. The voice performances are good with standout performances by Ilene Woods as Cinderella, Eleanor Audley as the Stepmother, and Verna Felton as the Fairy Godmother. The second disc has a lot of bonus features that I have not looked at yet. By this time you're probably asking, "if it's so great why did you rate it only 4 out of 5?" One word, "mice". They're annoying. They play a key role in the story but that virtue is almost lost due to how overly cute they are portrayed. This DVD will be a welcome addition to your collection.Read full review
The movie is clearly pirated. The cover's color and markings are not quite right and the alignment is funny. Cinderella originally was a 4:3 aspect ratio that when jumped to 16:9 ratio is quite "zoomed in". However, it is not very noticeable unless you are a super Disney fan in which the zoom might bother you in some spots. Overall for the price I paid it is good and it's enjoyable to be able to watch an old classic Disney film that isn't ridiculous like all the new movies are.

The movie itself is wonderful. Every little girl, teen, and woman would love to be Cinderella at the ball finding her prince. This edition was suppose to be the 2005 dvd but it is actually the 2001 edition. Either way Cinderella was fully restored and absolutley lovely. The only complaint is just as our heroine is about to meet her Fairy Godmother the dvd stops. It sticks and doesnt continue thru unless I hit the skip button on my remote, only then will it continue on. Wish I knew that before I purchased. Cinderella is the main part of a collection of Walt Disney movies I had lost in a move and trying to re-collect. It is a shame that each time I watch it I have to keep the remote in hand inorder to have the movie continue to play.
