I have owned my Upro Go gps for six months, upon purchasing it I checked if my home course was listed and it wasn't so I requested it in December 2009. Six months later I am still waiting for it so that has been a geat disappointment. On my trip to Florida in April every course I played was on my gps so was able to get familiar with how to use it. My gps has the basic features and I found the yardages excellent and great graphics for the hazards. Power conservation is a good feature and makes it possible to play at least a couple of rounds between charges. It can take 3-5 minutes to access the satellites when starting up the gps and will usually load up the course you are at without having to search for it. This gps has courses worldwide already on it. I live in Canada and as I said earlier I am still waiting for my home course - many other courses in my province are listed. I have been in constant contact with Callaway by e-mail and phone for the last two months and was very reluctant to criticize but to pay $300 and not be able to use it is beginning to seem like a huge waste of money so I guess my recommendation is to make sure by checking their website that the course you will be playing the most is already available. June 2010 - Finally got my home club downloaded on my gps. July 2010 Purchased the "GO" feature from Callaway for $50 which shows a picture of green and surrounding hazards. You can move the pin placement around and then obtain a very accurate yardage for the shot into green. Really like this add-on feature and consider it a very worthwhile purchase. OK two years later and still using this GPS, I recently bought the MX+ so I could keep score and definitely cannot recommend it, very difficult to navigate and forget the scoring! I have since returned the MX+ Sept 2013 - I can't say enough good things about Upro Go - I love it. Two years use and battery still going strong.Read full review
I have owned and used this product for a couple months. I play a few different courses so I purchased the Go mode upgrade. It's amazing how fast you become dependant on these things. The Upro Go is affordable and works well overall. Pros: Courses are preloaded and once it connects to the satelite it knows which course you are on and that course appears at the top of the selection list. I have found it to be accurate when comparing to a range finder (which a buddy owns). The display is bright and I have had no problem seeing it in sunlight. Battery life is very good. I have gotten through 3 rounds, though I would recommend charging after 2. In Go mode being able to move the pin placement is a very nice feature. Cons: It does not display an image of the entire hole. It shows the green and another screen shows the hazards and distances to each of them. This is the greatest drawback I have found. It takes about 5 minutes for the unit to boot up and achieve satelite connectivity. I usually turn it on as soon as I get to the parking lot so this has been only a minor issue. I did not buy a skin for the unit but can see the benefit. I got a zippered cell phone carrier from the dollar store that works well. It has a belt loop and a soft interior so I have not scratched the unit as of yet. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality and performance. Hope this helps.Read full review
I like the feature of 18000 pre loaded courses and the basic mode which gives accurate distances to front, middle and back of greens and distances to hazards. It is easy to read even in bright sunlight. The go mode has smaller numbers that are more difficult to read so I don't use it on my home course and didn't purchase that option. My GPS failed after about a month but callaway sent me a new one to replace it. I also purchased a protective skin for my new unit.
Accurate distances make the right club choice, even if I hit it left or right it is the right distance. Works great in basic mode or if you pay the fee for go mode. Go mode not needed you just don't get the green layout is all. Unit will not keep your score for you. And you can not mark your own course. If it's not available for download then your out of luck. But it has all course for download and is preloaded with them. You can request courses if they happen to not be available. But is accurate and will save you strokes.
I bought the uPro as a gift for my husband's birthday. One of our friends had one and he liked how it worked. It is easy to load the info needed to get started. On the golf course, you find the course you are playing and it works from there. It is helpful when you need to know distance. We have not figured out how the hazard info works 100%. He is very happy with it and find it easy to use. I am glad I bought it and would recommend it.
