Briggs and Stratton 17.5 HP
I replaced a 17.5 HP motor made by another manufacturer and did NOT have to make any modifications. Mounting holes, shaft size and length, even the wire color code was the same. The throttle and choke controls was a simple matter of hooking them up. It was the easiest and quickest engine replacement I have ever done. The motor has been in service for almost one month and is performing great and seems to use less gas than the old motor, I don't have enough data yet to put a number on fuel consumption. I'm a very happy camper! I replaced a 17.5 HP motor made by another manufacturer and did NOT have to make any modifications. I put it on my garden tractor a husky 42 in and when I hooked it up it ran fine it sat on my carport overnight the next morning it would turn over but not crank then later on it wouldn't even turn over,i tried a new voltage regulator and a new switch. It fit perfectly on the rider mower. The problem with it is they don’t supply you The female and the male plug the female plug goes on the alternator voltage regulator which you need and the male plug goes on the one for the carburetor solenoid and the ground out switch wire not supplied in the box

This 31r replaced my 31c on a craftsman deck. Note the 4 mounting holes on the engine are not threaded as the old one so 3/8 nuts and bolts used. Engine comes with muffler and starter too. The alternator/stator gas only one yellow wire, old engine with two ( one for headlights and other to charge battery) had to splice the yellow wire from the stator/regulator to the charging wire on the chassis...make sure you ID correct wire.
