I have only been tying flies for a short period of time. My first vise was a Latvian special which cost $12 and took 3 weeks to arrive. I tied on it for a while, but knew there must be a better way to tie flies. The APEX came up on a search and was on sale, I decided it was time to upgrade and I sure am glad I did. This vise is excellent. The slots in the jaws hold hooks very well. I loved the fact that it came with both a table clamp and a pedestal, both of which are excellent. The inline rotary function is great! I also like how the head can be adjusted to whatever angle I want. The material clip was just an afterthought for me, but I find myself using much more than I thought. Overall, for less than $100 you can't go wrong. MADE IN THE USA was also very important to me.

Very disappointed with the rotatory function of this vise. I reminds of a cheap vise I got years ago with the same rotatory function a real piece of junk. The vise itself is nice holds the hooks well but do not recommend if one is looking for a good rotatory vise.

Have only used it for a few days - but. Portable yet sturdy. Sets up easily. Adjustable in just about any way you'd want. Holds hooks well. Doesn't tip while you're tying. Don't see any reason not to like it.

Very well made vise for someone who doesn't want full rotary vise. I haven't used it for large hooks yet but works well for hooks down to 20 somethings.

Very heavy duty vice! Solid stainless steel. Will last a lifetime. My wife loves her new vice
