I replaced a stock on a 1897 Winchester, color match was great and the finish is smooth to the touch like some of my other shotguns. This is not to be hurried, it will take weeks to get the correct color and finish. Be sure to read the instructions that are emailed to you for the correct procedure. Also don't use the green friendly thinner to mix the dye with. Us a quality thinner (100% mineral spirits) found at most quality paint stores. It does take time to get the correct finish.

So far I have 6 coats on the stock and it looks excellent. Make certain to follow the instructions and allow adequate drying time between coats. I used a "dry-box" at 110 F and still gave it 3 days between coats. Be patient and let each coat cure fully. Lastly, don't use any of the "green" mineral spirits when mixing with this oil. The normal clear odorless type works fine, but not the "green" type.

This product will make an incredible finish on your stock, but it does not get on there by itself. If you are willing to take your time and do the work as instructed, you will not be disappointed. Following the directions to the letter is very important for a good finish. You must not rush!

very good color, once you get the color you want if it still needs more coats you can just use clear boiled linseed oil thinned to get more depth. I use turpentine since it is really tree oil thinner not a mineral oil. cons: be careful and don't rush the cure or it will take forever and maybe never to set up. Time and 100 degree temp at low humidity with maybe a air circulating environment will be the fastest process.
