This knife has the foundation to be an ok marking knife. The handle is fine and the blade is ground sufficiently. The main issue is the edge. Mine looked like it was sharpened on a piece of concrete. I don’t even know how you create such a ragged edge. If you are not proficient with stones and strops pass on this. However a little work with diamond stones and my strop and the edges were shaving sharp. The steel is not the hardest or softest I’ve worked with. I’d estimate it somewhere around 55HRC. Sharpening more often sure but easy to do. It can be made functionally sharp. Overall this knife is ok and it’s 10 bucks. If you want to spend more money you can and you will do better but overall this knife will serve its purpose.

The knife I received was not at all sharp. After much trying to put an edge on it without success I informed Anytime Tools. Anytime replied to my complaint as follows: Hello, Thank you for your note. We have sold many thousands of this marking knife – this is the degree of sharpness it has always been received from the factory as a marking knife. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Thanks, Gail Anytime Tools

I bought a thin marking knife and it appeared good. It had a comfortable handle that fit well in my hand that could be held like a pencil or like a knife. The blade is attached well. It had a small burr on one edge that cleaned up quick using 2300 wet/dry sand paper. Using it on soft wood it made a nice clean scribe line. But on hard wood the point rolled over and caused not so clean of a line. Cleaned it up again and repeated with the same results. I'm not sure why this happened. Maybe its too thin to use on hard wood. Its not bad for the price, it looks and works good. Just has limitations. If you plan on doing a lot of work using hard wood, you may want to go with the heavier/thicker knife.
