I love having this IPAQ! I have downloaded games, so it is a game machine. I went on the internet twice during my last vacation, and it worked flawlessly. I have my e-book on there, so I can read when I want. It will store tons of music on the 2gb card (max). It does everything it is supposed to do and more. Be prepared, if you buy this model you will have to update the operating system, to work with Vista, if it still has 2002. You also need a machine with XP on it. This is an additional charge, but I found it on the internet for 6.95. It was originally more from HP, so it was a bargain. (not available from HP now) The games are all downloadable from various sources. Two were included with the update. All the extra's like a new battery, case, memory, chargers and sticks are all still available at a reasonable cost. The battery seems to last 3 hrs for games and 5 for music. A car charger is a must for long road trips. Mine came with the IPAQ only, but to order all the things I needed, it was still a bargain. I can carry it in my purse, so free internet at Mcdonald's on the road is a snap. It will automatically download your inbox and still leave it on the original sight. I hope this helps with your decision making. I have had this for 3 months.Read full review
Very easy to set up and works very good. Why it's great: (1) Durability: This Ipaq is extremely well built. The case that comes with it allows me to toss it into my backpack without worries. Handle the 5455 in one hand and any competitor's product in the other, you'll feel the difference. (2) Usefulness: I love what I can do on this platform. Having pocket versions of Microsoft products available on the fly is great. When waiting for appointments, I'm able to work on spreadsheets, make lists, enter receipts into Pocket Money, or pass time by playing games. (3) Expandability: Ipaq products are definitely the way to go if you are interested in a product that is truly expandable. Unlike Dell, where you must purchase all of the Axim's peripherals from them, Ipaq peripherals are available everywhere. Ultimately, this saves money as vendors compete for your business. (4) Portability: The Ipaq may not be the lightest Pocket PC, but it feels the most portable in part because it's so durable. Other lighter Pocket PCs tend to be made primarily of brittle plastics that feel susceptible to wear and tear (making them more likely to be left at home). With the addition of a hefty SD memory card and built in Wifi and Bluetooth, I have no need for a compact flash expansion pack, keeping this gem light. (5) Power: This handheld is powerful. It feels like a real computer and programs are zippy. With expanded memory, it's almost like having a miniature laptop.Read full review
The main thing I was looking for was internet access, and this little jewel gives me that and much more. The operating system was upgraded by the previous owner and it is as good as any you would buy across the counter now for much, much more. It is easy to operate and the systems are so much like windows you really don't have to read any instructions at all. Now I am able to keep in touch by internet, view home security cameras wherever I am (with the help of a small program that easily loaded), and keep my schedule and address book up to date easily. I can even write or edit reports using Word and Excell, so there is no longer a need to carry around a bulky laptop anymore. I have obtained a GPS receiver/transmitter to connect to it and can't wait to try it out. Great piece of equipment, and great with games also when there is a need to pass time. I highly recommend this model.Read full review
I really like how these older IPAQs are made. I was somewhat familiar with this model before, since I used an older version h3800 series. This model has more power and wireless b and bluetooth. This has a more heavy duty feel to it than the one I am using now(h2100?), which is provided to me by my company. Sure it is a little larger, heavier and thicker, but it is solidly built. Look for someone selling along with a gps kit, and you can use this as a fully function navigation system.
Pros: Plenty of features, large and easily visible screen, even in moderate sunlight, lots of storage space, wifi. Everything works great and fast on this handheld. Any quirks with the wifi are cleared up with the upgraded firmware from HP. Cons: None that I've found. Other thoughts: If you're looking for a sleek handheld with a ton of features, look no further. With integrated bluetooth, wifi, and infared, you can connect to just about anything. Use the headphone jack and you've got a high-end mp3 player. Use the sd memory slot with a 4gb card and you've got plenty of space for movies, pictures, games, documents, or anything else you might need. Use a fold-up keyboard and you can easily transform this powerful handheld into a device that rivals a laptop but takes up as much space as 2 cell phones!Read full review
