For a beginner to fool around on, this is an OK guitar once it has been set up. It is inexpensive so if a kid wrecks it, it is not going to start WW3. Out of the box, it needs a setup and decent strings in order to be playable, but for it to have a 'real' guitar sound, it needs pickups, pots, and tuners. For the price, however, it is among the best ones out there. I have 40 years of experience as a luthier, so I can say No, it doesn't have a resonant nitro finish, but a really thick plasticized polyurethane which makes it very durable. A good guitar to use as a base for upgrades, and definitely worth what You get for the price if You've got some experience rebuilding guitars. I am ordering another one since I rebuilt the first one & gave it to a friend as a backup. Better to have a cheapie stolen at a gig than a $3,000 Fender Stratocaster. All in all, FIVE stars if You want a fun little project. -BudRead full review

This guitar resembles the Ibanez RG but has a thinner body than my RG. This guitar I received needed a lot of work. The intonation was way off so if you went to play a certain chord it would sound in-tune but when playing another it would be way off. The frets on the ends had to be filed down because they were sharp and also the white binding around the neck was very rough. The cheap plastic nut will need to be replaced or filed down because it sits way to high. These are all things that can be adjusted or worked on to make this a descent beginner guitar, learning guitar, or a great project guitar to upgrade. The guitar does look nice and again, I gave it what I gave it because it needed a lot of attention out of the box.

Guitar sounds good , every things good except the "neck" it is terrible, i have a hobby building guitars and upgrading them and i never ran across a neck that i could not repair, but this one has got to have new frets , then i am not sure it will work, looks like the neck is warped, can not get the buzz out on the d string or 4th string. But if you get a good neck , this would be a steal.

If you're buying for a beginner it'll do, but if you have even 6 months experience do not buy! I expected a cheap guitar but this is horrible! The neck was rough and needed sanding. Spend a little more and get a Squier. The product is crap, however, the seller was prompt with delivery and did a good job getting it to me. I've played the guitar for 48 years and want to teach my grandson with this, his first guitar. If he tears it up (he's 12), I won't cry, but if he takes care of it and actually learns on it he'll be getting a nice new Fender Squier in 2017.

Okay so an honest review is this. First impression was that the body was actually made of cheap plastic. Actually did a partial disassemble to make sure it was indeed wood. Then I noticed the frets. Holy hell, wear gloves. The edges are nasty and will more than likely need to be filed smooth. After all of this it has seemed to tune ok and sounds decent. I bought it for my young son so I'm not disappointed at all. He will enjoy it and hopefully learn guitar on it and someday get a finer piece. So all in all you will get what is a perfectly fine entry level guitar at a more than affordable price. You may need to do some detail work but it's not horrible.
