I've been searching for that ride cymbal with "THE" sound. You know what I'm talking about, loud stick definition with slight overtones and a good bell for rock music. Steely Dan, Rush, The Police and Sting. Steve Gadd, Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland and Omar Hakim. You know the sound..... This cymbal has great stick definition with NO overtones. Not a ROCK cymbal. Great for Jazz and lower volume music, but there is no cut to the sound. Nice sounding bell but rather small. This does have the "cool" factor in looks though! I've tried a K Heavy ride, not bad. It seems that my 80's A 21 inch Rock Ride is still the best I've found. It has everything I like except a little more overtones than desired. Maybe I'll try a Ping Ride next?

I bought the Dry Ride, to do fast or slow jazzy ride patterns.I am glad to own the Dry Ride, but, I wouldn't recommend the Dry Ride for a beginner or for a heavy metal drummer. This cymbal has great stick definition, but with little build up it is not crash-able. The bell on this cymbal is excellent! The K Custom Dry Ride would be an excellent choice for Latin music or even country. This would be good ride for those who have a few rides to choose from or if you a serious jazz drummer. I would like to see Zildjian, produce a version of the Dry Ride with some lathing on the top and bottom edges to give a little more volume and build up. Thanks ! Randetroit
The Zildjian K Custom Dry Light Ride 20 inch model is one of those very few treasured rides that allows me to instantly express and convey emotions through dynamics. This is a dry and controlled ride that is a blessing in intimate acoustic jazz or small ensemble settings where you want your sticking patterns to be clearly articulated, while allowing your instantaneous dynamic variations to be expressed. She speaks, then goes hush quickly, ready to convey your next pounce or punch.

This cymbal is very dry with almost no overtones or build up. Very good stick definition. It is great for acoustic music or jazz because it also is not a very loud cymbal. I would not use it for music that requires a big P.A. and loud music.
Best ride ever. Very very dry so if u are looking for wash this isnt it. Very defined.
