The Zeiss Distagon T* 15mm 2.8 is an amazing piece of glass. All my lenses up to this point have been Canon L Series, the best Canon has to offer. A couple of the Canon's are great lenses, my 24-70L f/2.8 ll for example. My 24L ll and my 14L ll are very sharp stopped down in broad daylight and are nice compact pieces of glass but they have huge coma at night. This Zeiss lens takes things to a whole new level. I can't explain it only to say the lens has more"life" in it. The colors are deeper, richer and the lens is SHARP all the way out to the edges. The amount of coma in the copy I have is not an issue. I bought the Zeiss over Nikon's 14-24 and Canon's 11-24 after much thought. The Zeiss is very comfortable and balanced even on the light-weight 6D. It takes ND filters without a problem and it doesn't have a big bulbous lens sticking out collecting dew on damp nights. Did I mention it is SHARP? Nothing in my Canon kit touches it. By the way, so far the manual focus hasn't been an issue. My Canons beep and lights flash when you're in focus and by f/8 almost everything is in focus anyway. The focus ring is so smooth the Canon's almost feel gritty in comparison. The body is made out of aluminum so it might not be as bullet proof as the Canons. I really like it.Read full review
