This Book was received 3 days ago. I have completed reading it in one sitting. It was so funny, so apt, and kept me in stitiches the whole time. I tried to share the humour and insights w/my non-knitting Husband, but it was lost on him. I particularly like the way she describes 'Stash" and the myriad ways we Knitters have found to Store, and Hide it, as well, as reasons for buying MORE YARN, no matter how big our yarn stash is. Every knitter I know and those of you I dont, will really enjoy the wit and humour of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's point of view on Knitting and Life in general as a Knitter. If she continues to entertain in her next book, I plan to read all the books she has written. I never thought I would read a book about Knitting w/no Patterns in it, but, this book is a Wonderful exception in the Knitting World.Read full review
I love the humor..real life funny stuff in this book..it is like hearing from a friend. My only problem with reading this book is it kept giving me knitting thoughts and made me want to go organize my stash, buy pretty needles, rub new wool all over me and start more projects..this book kept me busy! But I loved it and follow her blog everyday. I started my knitting book library with this book and it was a good beginning..
This is a must read for any knitter. This book made me aware that I'm not the only one out there with a yarn fettish, super large stash & mutiple projects. It is a super funny take on the the obsessions of knitters. You will find yourself smiling & laughing, because you will see yourself in this book. Another great book by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. Don't miss out on it.
you laugh yourself silly seeing yourself in the same situations. I would recomend this book to anyone who knits. Very entertaining and always present is the vivid picture in the minds eye of all the minute details of the perfect gifts we all try to put our heart and sole into. The highs of everthing coming together and the lows of miscalculations, shortages, and just what the heck was I doing that this happened to me.
I had a hard time putting this book down. One moment the Yarn Harlet is completely crazed and the next she is compassionate and loving. I laughed out loud so many times while reading it on a plane ride that the man sitting next to me asked me what I was reading. A few of the chapters later in the book were heartfelt and made me all teary-eyed. I am grateful for the experience of reading this book. Highly recomended to all knitters.
