I bought a Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer to compliment my 5 year old Yamaha Theater system and replace a small Bose non powered subwoofer. The difference was remarkable! The smooth lows and powerful punches enhanced my home theater experience immediately. Installation was quick and easy. The provided instructions suggested alternative configurations, including using a second unit to cross fire the bass signal. As the Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer is a moderately priced powered speaker, I took their suggestion added the second unit. I now use less power to drive my home theater system and enjoy sound comparable to a professionally installed system. The Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer is a compact, attractive cube that utilizes little floor space and can blend in with most any home decor. I would recommend the Yamaha YST-SW216 Subwoofer to anyone who wishes to upgrade their home theater system without emptying your wallet. Manuel M. Sacramento CARead full review
Pairs very well with my Yamaha 6.1 system (75 watts x 6). Accurate and full bass response in music and movies. No "auto on" feature thouogh. But simply using a switched 110 AC outlet from the back of the receiver and leaving the SW "on" achieves the same result. I would highly recommend this product. I have a Polk Audio pro series SW powered by a Harmon Kardon flagship receiver that sounds no better. Don't expect the response of a 200 watt amp. However, this SW give very good soundscape in a medium size room set up for home theater. Not total audiophile, but not far away either.
It’s sound is great as well as the size and the material it’s been made out of, the bass that delivers in low frequencies makes of it an advanced subwoofer in its category.

Good sound, this is I guess the best subwoffer for this price. Only thing I don't like is the size, is real big and you will not can hide it easily.

This is an excellent subwoofer. I have it connected to both my stereo and the TV and it works exceedingly well for movie sound (explosions rattle the entire house!) and also for music (Billie Jean's bass line never sounded so good as now.) The unit is physically large but I have it installed below an end table and is pretty unobtrusive there. The sound it produces, however, is most definitely not. By the way, since the unit doesn't have a remote control, I bought a remote control electric switch and with it I can turn the unit on from my couch.
