I used the IPOD feature on the front almost everyday. It is xm radio ready but I don't have xm. You can tell that the sound quality of these larger receivers is always superior when you compare the two. If you want great sound quality from digital cables, this Yamaha is the way to go. Everything else I saw was to expensive or to poor quality for the cheap price. This receiver has a nice color on the front display of dark orange that is nice at night. It was a good buy for me. I would recommend to anyone.
This unit has more hook-ups on the back than I may ever use. But the sound system is extremely good. It really cranks out great sound clear and louder than you will ever want to turn it up to. Had some classic rock cranking last night and at only 1/3 volume leaves my ears ringing and fills the entire house with clear loud music. Wow, what a great receiver for the money. I have mine running thru an equalizer too.....wow is all I can say. I plan to use it outside this summer for parties too. I run 4 large 3-way speakers from it. They are rated at like 100 to 200 watts each, so they can take it. My neighbors are really in for it. The mode selection takes a little getting used to but that comes with usage.

Old school is sometimes better. I have a state of the art Sony wireless speaker surround with 1100 watts. It's a great unit but when it comes to clean, powerful sound it's hard to beat these older units. It's not as pretty or sleek and I do have to run wires but when you hook up some real speakers instead of these little surround speakers, you get rich, full sound in every corner of the room. The other advatage to the older units is they have inputs for more devices which I really like. I still have a turntable and cassette desk and it's nice to be able to use these.
Great sound and power for an old school amp. Great addition to my home theater.

I really love this receiver. I bought one a couple of years ago to power some speakers in college apartment and it did a great job (especially for the price). I enjoyed it enough that when I was building an entertainment system for my girlfriend's apartment at the end of the year, I bought a second one to power her audio. In my opinion, it helps you get the most out of your speakers without all the extras that, at least in my case, were not necessary.
