I was searching for a quality receiver and was able to buy this one for five hundred dollars when the new models came out. I think the original price was 1000.00 dollars. Plenty of power, plenty of hookups, simple to set up. I've had mine for four years and it has never let me down. One reviewer stated the only negative for him was the absence of a cooling fan. This is not true, the unit does have a cooling fan, which you can set to run all the time or just when the receiver reaches a certain temperature. I choose to run my all the time and have never had a problem. Remote is well thought out, unit is attractive and dependable. It does have hdmi, component and s-video connections. It is important to note that this receiver will pass 1080i, but not 1080p. If you don't mind that, and can get it for the right price, I highly recommend this receiver.Read full review
It have almost all that have found in the newest models, I just miss the Neural surround from newest models, but at change in newes models I miss the THX certification that for me is most important thing, this line have the same kind of power outputs like the RX-V1400, RX-V2400, RX-V1500, RX-V2500 & RX-V2600 that are all discrete components made, not the Surface mout like the RX-V2700 & up that at large have false contact problems for the heating inside the unit, that is a clasic fail that have many Onkyo HT Receivers, is have the balance betwen cost & quality, even is a gadget for all the things it made. If you can find one new or mint conditions buy it is an excellent choice.
