I have used 3 of the top clean boosts and NOTHING compares to the RC booster as far as db gain, EQ and pur boost without coloring the sound. I play into a vintage 1965 Deluxe Reverb and a vintage 1866 Princeton Reverb and use this as a boost for all solos at the end of my gain and grit chain. I use a Barber LTD for grit, an Archer Ikon Gold and a Zen Drive for higher distortion sounds and stack one of them with Barber for over the top distortion. Bottom Line, with all these clean, grit, Gain A, Gain B, Super Gain all set equal in output, I use the RC Boost at ANY time to bump up the volume and get me out in the mix. It plays well with others

While the price is a bit high for the features, it seems more refined than much of the competition. The treble and bass knobs have center detents, and the eq is actually flat when set there, so it is easy to get the results you want without even hearing it, where more often the eq knob position and resulting tone are arbitrary and hard to predict. With the gain all the way down and the volume set at unity, the pedal sounds the same on as off, which may not seem like an important feature if you don't need it. But it is easier to make a pedal that changes your sound than one that preserves your sound, and with the RC booster you're not stuck with a built in sound, so you can probably get more different sounds out of it as your needs change. With the gain all the way up and the volume set anywhere, the pedal does not add any grit or graininess to the sound, yet it fattens or thickens the sound, which is another thing that not many pedals manage to do, add girth without grit. The Treble and Bass controls are active and can dial in a mid hump, as well as adding clean bass boost, or whatever other tone sculpting you might need. If you do need to add some grit you can do that by overdriving the input of your amp, but the whole point of this pedal is it's ability to actually start transparent, and alter only what you target without adding its own preset voice.Read full review

This is such a transparent overdrive and clean boost. Sometimes you just need a little extra compression and body to your clean tone and this pedal does just that. Many times I would have a light overdrive set up and I would lower my guitars volume knob to get an edge of break up clean tone but I would lose the "top end" and some "spank" because naturally the mids and hi's suffer when you lower your guitar's volume because your giving less signal from the pickup. This pedal adds the dynamic compression and light grit that guitarist look for when they want something clean but not too clean. What's even better is that the pedal seems to add a "chimey" presence to the high notes of your guitar without distorting in the upper 8k-20K frequency area which is a definite plus. The second gain stage is that extra overdrive you need to add for a nice dirty rhythm during the chorus of a song or even to be stacked on with another distortion pedal for some extra body and lift. overall this pedal is an answer to my tone prayers. A must have if you're a serious guitarist. Read full review

I bought this booster because a good friend of mine got the Xotic EP boost and I loved it, since I was looking for a booster I wanted something of that quality but that the same, so I checked out other xotic products and give it a shot. First of all its a TRUE BYPASS pedal, thats important if you are getting into the sound of your instrument and amp, Second of all Its made of metal (or something that seems metal), why is that important? Well, because you're gonna bit the hell out of it stepping on it and carring it around everywhere theres a guitar or bass. It sound really really good, I'm loving it, it's the cleanest booster of Xotic FX but you can get it dirty with the gain all the way up. If you'r looking for a boost/Overdriven distortion pedal you might wanna look for the AC or the BB, also I tried the Box of Rock and It kicks ass, but its to much for me since I use a sans amp to get the dirt. The EQ is delicious, the single coils gain a lot of body from it, and if you wanted crispy you can get it too. It also has a massive amount of volume, and a nice compression that adds something great to the tone of your guitar. Before you get a booster you should be interested in a Tube Amp, thats the first step if you want to really get it because its not just an effect, its going to be a part of your sound as the string are a part of it. Choose wisely your priorities when you are burning to add something to your rig. The only negative thinking about it its that I dont wanna turn it off, once its on its ON. Hope you get your sound. Best wishes Flanfight Ps: Im from Argentina, and no Im not a monkey, but I dont speak to much english yet, so thats the explanation if you read something bizzare o badly writen.Read full review
This is the only pedal I have bought that I knew I would want to keep. It makes a great amp sound even better.........I recently bought a Fender Blues Jr. and really enjoyed it's sound. When I plugged in the RC Booster it sounded 3 times better and helps an average guitar sound great. Very effective EQ controls on the pedal which really do work and gives you considerable variety. Exotic did a great job on this pedal, looking forward to checking out their other products. Don't hesitate to purchase this pedal, you will truly enjoy the results.
