Bought two of these for only $16.50 each, which was a great value. The seller emailed the codes (from the back of the cards) so I could type those codes in when on the Wii Shopping Channel on the Wii. I checked on IGN.com to see which games were highly rated, and to read the descriptions of the games. So, with 4,000 points to play with, I bought and downloaded Super Mario Brothers 3, World of Goo, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. These are all fun games. I still have some points left, and I'll continue to read reviews to decide which other games to purchase.
It's an awesome way to buy some of the older games, especially the cool RPGs such as Zelda & Paper Mario. I really like that I can finally have most of my favorite games on one console (instead of switching between the N64, Super Nintendo, GC, and so on). You can even save the games to a regular memory card & play them off the card at a friend's house. The main problem I have with the Wii Points is that the card only comes in one size (as far as I can tell). I really hate that I have to spend $20 to get 2000 points when I may only need 1000 points to get the game I want. (You can use a credit card, of course, but I wouldn't recommend that.) I wish they'd make a $10 & $30 card as well.
I usually use my points for wii ware games. 100 points = 1$ The best tittle out at the moment in my opinion is world of goo. Its a beautiful game and gives you fun ways of building shapes with the goo balls. The points are needed to purchase tittles from the Nintendo shop channel. A good place to read reviews on wii ware titles is http://www.wiiware-world.com/ and wii.ign.com or gamerankings.com
It's easy. It works. Gives you access to WiiWare and Virtual Console games. If you find it for less than $20 there's no reason not to pull the trigger if you're interested in any of the Nintendo downloadable content.
There are a lot a great games available for download with Wii Points; Tetris Party and Super Mario III for example (and supposedly, though I have not checked on my system yet, we should now be able to download individual Rock Band songs for 200 points each.) BUT, you can purchase these points for a much cheaper price, and NOT only online. I've purchased at $39 for 6000 points at EBAY in the past.
