John Candy is Harry Crumb, the last in large family of private eyes. Unfortunately, big-hearted Harry's bumbling nature has led to his exile from the family for ten years while the family business was turned over to snakelike Eliot Draisen (Jeffrey Jones). Draisen plans on capitalizing on portly Harry's ineptitude when he puts Crumb on the case after kidnapping his own best client's daughter so that he can run away with the client's wife (Annie Potts). But this time, Harry, with a bizarre array of disguises, just might crack the case and prove he's one Crumb that won't be swept under the rug!

Very Funny Family Comedy
This movie has an excellent cast of characters! This is one of my all time favorite family movies, it has physical comedy and some of my favorite one liners as well. We laughed through the whole thing.

Harry Crumb (Candy) is the last of the famous Private Investigators in the Crumb family. He is a light-hearted, good-natured sort, but a bumbling fool. He reminds you very much of another famous comedic cop from back in the 1970's, Peter Sellers, when he played Inspector Clouseau! After about fifteen years of exile in the West, Harry is called in to find a kidnapped woman in LA. The head of The Crumb Agency is the slimy Eliot Draisden (Jeffrey Jones). Draisden plans to capitalize on Harry's ineptitude by putting Crumb on the case after he has kidnapped his client's daughter for ransom. His plan is to run off with his client's wife and the money. In his typical bumbling, Crumb manor, Harry might just prove that he is not so easily swept under the rug!.
