This unit seems to be just as good, if not more capable as my Pro-73. It operates just fine. However, during my last cross-country trip, I found more of the John Laws using pulse radars. No matter how well you detect that, you're not fast enough to react. If you're in traffic, you might pick up a reflection off someone else ahead of you. But if you're on open highway by yourself, there's no way to counteract a pulse radar lying in wait around a blind corner. This is no fault of Whistler, it's just the law of Physics....Texas - ticket for $188, 82 in a 70. I'm hoping for the "Great Correction" (financial collapse)to take care of some of this silliness in the future.
This has saved me a couple times now. Although it doesn't go off at fixed red light camera it goes crazy at fixed freeway camera and mobile cameras. I would recommend turning off K,X band as LSR is the reading I get for cameras here

I bought this for my wife, who believes the posted speed limits are just guidelines. The speaker died in her 6 year old Whistler so when I researched a new detector I found some reviews that stated this model compared favorably to the way higher priced detectors out there. The old Whistler saved us many a ticket and this one seems to be even more sensitive. It also has a very cool BLUE readout. For the price, this is probably the best detector out there.
This is my second one of the pro 78 series. I purchased a Pro 78 about 3 years ago and it has worked great for the entire time in fact it still works great. Just couldn't pass up the deal I got on the new Pro 78se plus my old man needs one for his pick up. If you want to waste another 200+ dollars on a Escort or Valentine be my guest, but this radar gives all that those could for a lot less.
