Air quality has a direct affect on breathing, easy or labored. I feel the hepa filter is better than producing ozone with another type machine and for me I am doing better.

Most important -- this air purifier has both a carbon pre-filter and a HEPA filter. It's four speeds are remarkably quiet, even the strongest turbo speed. I like the "Sleep" setting, which runs on low for eight hours and then automatically returns to the last previous setting. Unlike my previous air purifier, on this one the front grill is easy to remove because the latches are at the top, rather than at the bottom.

These are THE (No.1) top-rated Air Purifiers in Consumer Reports. We've had our (2) several weeks and they are pleasantly very quiet and work perfectly. Filters are expensive ($86) but they last a LONG time (approx 6 months). Its the perfect alternative if you don't have central air. These units outperformed the BluAir units that cost $500 more! If you're into clean air, these are for you. (The pre-filters aren't that expensive (four for $27) and catch the bigger dust/dirt particles. We position our two units up and off the floor, so we don't waste the filtration on all the lower level dust & dog hair being kicked around (save that for the vacuum) thus allowing the filter to last a lot longer. In closed environments, they really do the trick. It's not as usefull to run them if you have all your windows open, you're sort of wasting their talents. Best for the closed and/or winter/hot summer environments when windows are closed. They clean large areas easily, but we have one in a smaller bedroom on the low setting, just because we like the results. You can save up to $30 off the $299 list if you shop around a little (plus get free shipping). They are fairly large & it would be nice if they came in colors other than white, to blend in where concealment would be good for esthetics, but, other than that, we love em!Read full review
I have 3 of these purifiers. The first 2 that I bought were outstanding . They are about 7 or 8 years old. We have 6 large dogs. I run them 24/7. Then I purchased a new one 2 years ago. I returned the first one because it sang at all levels. So I returned it for a replacement. The replacement arrived and at first No Singing. It now does. I can't run it unless we are out of the area not just the room. This is why I am seeking to buy an older model. I love the old ones but am very disappointed in the new one. My husband has inner ear problems and the newer model can not be used when he is in the house. I have read many product reviews on this model and the recent reviews have taken issue with the singing. I'm not the only one.

I now have 2 of these. I purchased the first one new from Whirlpool 6 or 7 years ago and recently got the second, used from an auction. I have run the first almost continually for the whole 6 or 7 years and it's still going. I expect the second will do as well. My house has an open floor plan with 10 foot high ceilings. It's small, but challenging for any air purifier. Keep the pre-filters changed and the Hepa filter will last a couple of years at least. The Hepa filters are now aftermarket and difficult to replace. Based on the reviews of others, the Hepa replacement filters are originally within a plastic frame and now most filter companies frame them using cardboard. Cheaper, but people who have used them are unhappy with the quality. Better to inspect any pictures of the filters to make sure they have the plastic frame. They are expensive and more difficult to locate, but the folklore indicates it's worth the price.Read full review
