Bought this just to check out my new upper for square. lapped the face for a few seconds at a time till the finish was even all the way around. I like the fact it came with everything i needed to start and complete the job. The flexible shaft made it so i didn't apply to much pressure on any one spot compared to a rigid shaft on other lapping tools. Like others have made mention, there were tooling nicks near the edge of the facing portion but nothing that would effect the actual lapping area. Aside from that, I will use it on all future builds.

Tooling marks on the work landing were transferred onto the Upper receiver. A 10x loupe showed lathe marks all through the contact area. I called Wheeler / Battenfield Sales with Photos and a CS man, Mat Stepanovic was understanding and sent me a New Tool right away. However the second Lapping Tool was just as BAD as the first tool. This time the contact area had a concentric Tank Tread like marking in the contact area. The Second tool was never used. So I'm out the First Tool, Shipping and possibly an Upper. And the kicker is I'm out over 3 weeks on my rebuild.

Tool lapping face does have crude machine marks. Do not lap your receiver with it out of the pack. Took mine to the lathe and smoothed it out with scotchbright. Still had marks but smoooth enough to lap it. I knew going in it would not work out of the box but saved me from making one from scratch. Also, after using it once seems it needs faced off again. So if you are looking for a starting point sure it is the correct dimensions. Just have to finish it.

This tool was extremely easy to use, delivered better than expected results, and seems extremely durable - I will be using this on all my future AR builds - !

I was hoping it would be good. Some of the other reviews have been mixed. The one I got was ok. I used it tonight and it worked fine. The flex shaft didn't screw in very easily, but with my drill attached it went in. Also worked to lap 1" scope rings.
