Woodstock has always fascinated me as a pinnacle of positive feelings in the 60's, only to see everything slide out of control very soon after. I owned the albums of the concert when they came out, then the original CD sets, even some bootlegs of performances not on the official releases. This new package is the most comprehensive yet. Obviously the sound quality isn't going to rival a studio album, but immersing yourself in the whole package is a winsome experience; you can almost imagine being there then, even if you weren't ( I was only 10, and wasn't there either ). I won't go into details about individual artist's performances, form your own opinions on them. Richie Havens set is one of my favorites. Included is an excellent booklet with interesting details about the festival, the artists, the whole area and time. I bought Michael Langs book about Woodstock and used it in conjunction with these CDs, and they seem to go together well. I can't say there were any real shortcomings; maybe the price is a little steep, but otherwise I was thrilled to see this come out. ENJOY!Read full review
I guess this is for the wimpy fans of all this stuff...can you believe six discs and not a single riff by Ten Years After...they were even better than hendrix...but hey, we have bert sommer and melanie!
