Thick, galvanized plating. I think it will stand up to pretty much anything. I first used it as a template on the inside wall in the attic. Then drilled holes all the way through from the inside, and fastened it with bolts going all the way through instead of the included wood screws. That way, I was able to avoid having to find a ladder that was tall enough to reach on the inside, I could lower the mount down from the roof after fastening it to the mast first.

This is a very sturdy antenna mount. Very easy to fit but if you are scared of heights being easy wont help much. I didnt want to drill into my roof so I had to settle with this, but having installed it, I would choose this over any other mount.

I have a low pitched roof and had to expand the lower mount the whole way allowed and still only had about 10 inches between the two upper and lower parts and cannot believe how strong the steel is!, I weigh 200 pounds and can swing off the thing. I have a 12 foot mast on the mount with an 8 pound antenna and security camera on it and wont have to worry about even the strongest winds knocking it over in WV.

The 'j-hook' holder just wasn't strong enough to hold the antenna...the wind would make it take a 45-degree dip. The Gable mount is showing strength...it is holding in strong winds.

Easy to understand instructions and excellent quality construction. Proved to be more than enough to hold a large antenna with rotor rock solid.
