I rate it average because it's a large book and I haven't finished reading all the chapters that might be useful. I found an Epson ActionNote 650 at a backyard sale for $5.00. It has a 486DX2-50mhz processor, a 250Mb harddrive and 4Mb RAM;not much grunt by todays standard but the price was right! I have since located 16Mb memory upgrade, for a current total of 20Mb RAM (max allowed). The OS is Windows 3.1 with Clarisworks 3.0 and several other programs I probably won't use. In the process of becoming familar with this old laptop (working without a manual),I fooled with the video driver, looking for colors on what turned out to be a monochrome LCD, and the screen went blank! After some research,I realized I needed the installation disks to recover from my mistake. I also realized I would need additional help to fully utilize Windows 3.1;hence the order for this book. I got the disks off EBay also. The book apears to be thorough in its scope;but I struggle with some of the instructions. I'm trying to install Icons for Clarisworks and 5 text instruction manuals in the Program Manager file. The instructions on how to do this are not clear to me,but I think I am about to slay this dragon. All the necessary files are present on the harddrive C:.It appears that installing icons for programs(applications) is different from installing icons for text documents.I think the book could be more helpful in this regard.Read full review
