This is an older TB2 RAID case that holds two HDD. It works over TB2 and i have it attached to my mac mini via a TB3 to TB2 adapter. Works fine. I hate the WD utilities software. Doesn’t work properly on Mac OS 11, but in order to setup the drive you need it. I installed it, setup and tested the unit then deleted the software. The case is passively cooled and has no fans. On this device there is only a single LED showing power. My other WD Duo has three LEDs: power and one for each drive. This unit works fine except for the WD software.

Well, it does what it's supposed to do. I put two 4 tb drives in it and mirrored them for redundancy to store my photo work. File transfer is good and fast -- faster than gigabit NAS. The internal fan can be a bit noisy at times during intensive file transfer operation, but it's tolerable. One of the nice things is that one may daisy-chain other enclosures and still connect a display port monitor.

All other thunerbolt options are way too expensive even without hard drives installed. Even though most of the drive is made of plastic, there is no difference between it and one that costs $300.
