There is nothing quite like a good classic film. The movies from the Walt Disney company definitely fall into this category. The films they made with actress Hayley Mills are beloved and timeless. Following her Oscar-winning performance as Pollyanna, Mills gave fans a double dose when she co-starred alongside herself in the original 1961 film, "The Parent Trap". This is wonderful story-telling at its most charming. Playing the roles of twin sisters Sharon and Susan, she did a remarkable job handling both parts. The basic story concerns the girls' attempts to reunite their long-divorced parents back together after they had first met at summer camp. Hatching the plot, they decide to switch places with each other, with each sister going with a different parent. The circumstances result in absolute hilarity and brilliance. Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara are perfect as the girls' parents Mitch and Maggie, who are brought together through no fault of their own. Joanna Barnes is the right choice to play Vicki Robinson, who is determined to marry Mitch only for his money. Veteran actors Charles Ruggles and Leo G. Carroll also appear in supporting roles. This is one of Disney's best movies from the early 60s. After all these years, it is still a whole lot of fun. Although it also spawned 3 sequels and a 1998 remake starring Lindsay Lohan (in her screen debut), this original version still ranks as a classic piece of filmmaking.Read full review

I have always loved this movie!!! I wish it was made in DVD in full screen, I have it in DVD and discovered it was in wide screen so I bought this VHS to have it in full screen. All the characters are hilarious!!! I have owned this movie in some form since I was about ten years old. The 1998 remake just didn't do it justice. Hayley Mills is wonderful as are the others in this movie, especially the part where the father discovers Maggie and both twins are in the house. The only improvement would be like I said to have it available in full screen DVD. Definitely buy this movie!!! A must have!!!
A movie from my childhood... it's wonderful, charming and very delightful. Back to the good ol' days of wholesome family movies, my 3 & 4 year old, love this movie. I bought this copy for my friend who loaned me hers, that we had used LOTS!
This is a great movie. A Disney classic from the old days with no cussing, violence or nudity. This movie is enjoyed by kids and adults of all ages. and it's funny. I love Haley Mills.
