The first thing that I did was locate the owners manual and print it up. This gave me a roadmap to using the device. It is a little bit more complicated than programming my original line 6 pod pro, and many of the 50 presets in this device are instantly usable. There is a “stomp box” mode, that I can access by pressing the bank up/bank down buttons together, this gives me access to each of the built-in pedals, and those have many different settings. The first two pedals have compressors and distortions, The third has modulations, and the fourth has various delays. And there are several choices for each “pedal”- in this mode, The unit is similar to my Boss ME 50 which I have had for 15 years, that one has distortions, modulations, and delays, and a whole bank of alternates, Plus the COSM feature. This unit rather than COSM, has 33 amp models plus 11 pedal models. It is going to take a while for me to learn how to create my own presets with this thing, if I could do that with my line 6 pod pro, how much more will I be able to do that with the available amp presets on this thing? I look forward to tweaking with every amp offered. There is also a setting for the output so that it can be used with direct line out for recording, and there are also Vox, Fender and Marshall amp output settings. My line 6 pod Pro has that same feature but I always use it in “studio” mode even when I am playing live because it simply sounds better that way. So I will have to experiment with this to see which output setting works the best when I plug the output directly into my power amp. There is a lot here, the expression pedal does not instantly work as a volume pedal or WAH pedal, it can be set according to the model that you are using or the effects that you are using, you can tell the device when to use the pedal as a volume or as a way to change the speed of a modulation parameter. It also controls the amount of echo, plus it has magnificent Wahs. Although my ME 50 was very versatile, this is more so. And I feel fortunate that I was able to find one of these used in very good condition it is one top notch unit. And the 12AX7A output tube really gives character to the sound. I have had two different Vox modeling amps in the past, an AD50VT and a VT55, both of them 50 W. The AD50 did not really have a floorboard, the VT 55 had a five position foot switch to choose presets. But having this unit, I would not need a floorboard for those particular amps because it’s all here. I just recorded a guitar part into my ProTools Digi-001, which still works, amazingly, and the sound going into my Digi is a pure sound with plenty of signal. My first result was awesome, I just chose a preset and used it, I didn’t have to fiddle around with tone or volume settings it just went right in. My goal has been to reduce the amount of foot switches I need to use during any live show or practice, having this unit will allow me to discard several pedals that I would no longer need for live playing. I want everything to be there with one or two different pedals, I used to play with maybe a dozen pedals hooked up. I believe this will allow me to get rid of that cumbersome and time-consuming set up. I had purchased a Getaria Cube Baby (same as a Cuvave Cube Baby), during a particular day when items were discounted. Although that little device has five amp models, several modulations and delays, and about six decent distortions, and even though it actually sounds really good for being a tiny multi effects unit, this is more like what I wanted. I actually ordered this the day after I ordered the Cube Baby. I will use that one for home recording, but I intend to use this for live music. Between the three multi effects pedals that I now have, the ME-50, the Cube Baby, and this, this has the largest array of sounds for my purposes. Finally, for a used item the unit was in remarkable shape, and it was delivered earlyRead full review

Great effects box, super effects and great sound. A little hard to understand programming . Once I got the tonelab programmed it sounded great, only box I know of with a tube preamp built in.
Precisely what one would expect from VOX.
