We have a small condo in Tucson and using this in the bedroom at night is extremely helpful. Easy to set up, mostly quiet while running. Because the tap water in Tucson is basically undrinkable & filled with impurities that calcify almost all the plumbing shut-off valves, we use filtered water to put in this one, so that it doesn't get clogged up with all the impurities & sediment in the tap water. This and other Vornado humidifiers are the best-I have one that has outlasted all other more expensive brands and doesn't require the type of cleaning that cool/hot mist humidifiers do. I must say that as the water fills the tank from the reservoirs, it makes a slurping sound, but over the years, we have gotten accustomed to it.

this unit is very cheaply built with a very thin plastic housing and water tank attachment. When assembled empty the entire thing flexes and comes apart at its locking points with almost no effort or unlocking. It's digital controls are inaccurate and it's output is overstated. I tried it in a well insulated open living room and dining room with bedroom doors closed (just under 400 sq. ft.). it didn't raise the humidity but 3% in and that was checked with 2 hygrometers that matched each other. I also tried it in a smaller bedroom set at 40% on its controls and it would consistently run all the way up to 51% humidity before shutting off on its own, way too high for winter. I would give any unit a +/- 5% on its controls no problem but its built in humidistat or hygrometer isn't even close. The only good point is it's quiet, the only sound it makes is fan noise as the blades have a large degree of pitch on them.Read full review

I have nothing bad to say about this humidifier. It works well, and I run them 24/7 all winter to make the house liveable during heating season. Although the filter wicks are expensive, I would not recommend the cheap unbranded ones. They might fit but are not the same quality as the Vornado ones, which last all season without build-up of black or pink mold. Also, I have never had a humidifier that is easier to clean. There is little calcium build-up, if at all.

Quiet, efficient evaporative humidifier. Easy to add water and does a great job. We have one for our condo in Tucson, and you can tell the difference , at night especially. Will be buying another for one of our stairs bedrooms, as Denver is so dry.

I've purchased three of these now for use in a small wine room. The first one worked for a number of years (6?) but finally failed for no apparent reason. For use in a wine room, it could have a slightly higher humidity setting (60% is the highest), but it's okay. I replaced the failed unit plus one for spare.
