Having read plenty of positive reviews for Visio and this TV, I decided to buy it because of it's attractive price. It has a great picture for both HD and SD signals and the sound through the unit's speakers is fine. There is a lot of control over picture settings using a nice simple remote. There are only 2 drawbacks to this unit. It only has an optical audio out connection (no analog RCA jacks). It doesn't have a proportional zoom that fills the screen by stretching both horizontally and vertically. Though the manual calls the "wide" mode proportionally stretched, it is only stretched horizontally.
Likes: It takes up less room than my old tv. The picture is clearer than I thought it would be. It was simple to hook up to my Wii, stereo and cable box. The instructions were very clear and concise. It is a sleek looking, light weight TV. Since this is is my first flat screen TV I do not have anything else to compare it to. Dislikes: The speakers are adequate. I believe the speakers can be upgraded to go with it's digital picture. That is why I rated the TV "Good". That is my only dislike.
Although I do not personally own this TV, I do sell it on a regular basis. This TV is a good value, It is one of the entry level TV's so you wont get all the bells and whistles but you will get a good picture quality. It will show 720p and has several HD inputs. This has decent sound on it and does have digital tuner. Do keep in mind this is more of a value TV so the quality won't be same as there higher models or other brands like sony, toshiba, sharp, etc. Overall this is a good buy and a decent TV the only two downfalls I seee about this TV is it has no audio output and the menu can be a little confusing to navigate.
Overall, great TV. It has lots of input ports, a remote that has buttons for easily switching between them. The things that keep it from 5 stars for me: 1. Takes a while to turn on (probably normal for this kind of TV, but still) 2. Doesn't have RCA out sound jacks, but it does have Optical (Digital) sound out 3. The remote control is ugly and has redundant volume/channel buttons.
I have used this TV for about 2 weeks now, picture quality is excellent. The onboard sound is good. I have used it in all modes TV, HDMI, Comp and as a external monitor for my laptop. It has performed well in all modes. The number and diversity of inputs is good, although with them point straight down they have to make a quick 90 degree turn, they should have been placed anothor 2 to 3 inches higher would have been nice, or if they were placed at a 45 degree angle would also have been acceptable.
