Bowhunting Equipment

With bowhunting equipment, you have everything you need to engage in some target practice or go out for a hunting trip. Archery equipment is available from many different brands that range from Barnett to Easton, providing you with a variety of items to select from. These items include arrows, compound bows, string, stabilizers, and sights.

What are the different types of bowhunting equipment?

When you are getting ready for a hunting trip, there are different types of archery equipment for you to select from, the most common of which are hunting crossbows, compound bows, arrows, and strings, the latter of which connect to a traditional model. Some of the other items available include a mechanical release aid that provides assistance in firing bows more accurately, a case that allows you to store the bow whenever you are not using it, and lighted nocks that can be attached to your arrows, allowing you to see them more clearly after firing your shot. Many of these items are bow stabilizers, which perform a large variety of functions that range from absorbing vibrations when you release the bow to keeping it balanced by adding some extra weight below the grip. A selection of the other types of items you can choose from includes arm guards, arrow rests, dampeners, quivers, sights, and silencers.

What is a compound hunting bow?

Whether you are looking to shoot three-dimensional targets or are interested in going hunting, a compound hunting bow is a type of bow that is designed to provide you with a large number of features that can help with your shooting. These bows are commonly used by professional archers and provide you with a levering system of cables and pulleys that bends the limbs, which are usually very stiff, allowing you to remain accurate when aiming at your target. Due to the high rigidity, these particular bows are provided with a reduction in sensitivity to changes in humidity or temperature. When you draw this type of bow, the limbs are pulled toward each other, allowing the limbs to be horizontal as opposed to angled, which minimizes the amount of vibration within the limbs after the arrow is fired.

What does the magnification level mean on a crossbow scope?

If you select a crossbow with a scope, one of the first numbers you will notice is a number that is listed as something akin to 2x20. In this example, the 2 represents the power magnification of the device, which means that a deer viewed through this scope would be twice its regular size. The 20 represents the lens diameter of the scope in question, which is displayed in millimeters. The lens diameter correlates with the first number as higher magnifications require higher lens diameters so that enough light gets into the lens. For instance, crossbow scopes with an illuminated reticle typically consist of a large lens diameter to be used in low-light or nighttime conditions.
